A coffee shop, with "American standards," similar to Starbucks, opens right in the centre of Kandahar, the birth place of the Taliban, in Afghanistan, here on April 30, 2005. In the owner's opinion, Mohamed Naseem, 31, "You can enjoy a nice cup of coffee while reading a magazine." It's a first in this conservative country. Mohamed, an Afghan born in Kandahar, lived in Philadelphia for a while, but now back in his home country, realized he was missing a place where he could hang out with his friends like he did in America, and therefore, started his own business.
